The vice-president of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Gaspar Zarrías participated in Benalmadenain in the presentation of the Protect Plan together with a Mayor of the municipality Javier Carnero. The initiative from the Andalusian Government will contribute 1.500.000 euros for a dozen different projects.
Zarrías emphasized the effort realized together by the Central and the Andalusian Governments in order to start a program with a common aim: the support of the local administration in the period of crisis. “ The State Plan of Inversions and the Protect Plan share the same aims: to improve the quality of life of the citizens and favour job creation especially now in a difficult moment in a labour market,” he added. On the other hand, the vice-president indicated that both plans also proposed economic help for the local administrations and would support especially small and medium sized companies. The vice-president emphasised the economic support of both plans for Benalmadena. Both initiatives include 25 projects with a global investment superior to 12 million euros and the creation of more than 300 jobs. From his part, the Mayor of Benalmadena was grateful for the visit, and indicated that the presence of vice-president in the municipality is one more proof that the Regional Government of Andalusia supports the coastal municipalities. For Javier Carnero, the Protect Plan is a real opportunity to improve the actual economic situation. “This Government Team has supported from the beginning active policies of employment, for example starting the school-workshop, or such an ambitious initiative like Ben-Emplea. But all these projects mean medium-term solutions and the Protect Plan means improvement in short term,” said the Mayor. The Mayor is grateful to the Regional Government of Andalusia for the confidence in the Town Halls offering us full autonomy in the development of the projects of the plan. The Projects The Mayor mentioned some of the twelve projects that integrate the Protect Plan in Benalmadena. Education enjoys a special attention since it covers 80 per cent of the projects of the Protect Plan. The Mayor also mentioned a new Health Centre in Benalmadena Pueblo and a day centre for Senior Citizens in Los Porches. For Javier Carnero, the Protect Plan is a perfect compliment to the State Funds. “With the state Funds we have covered all the infrastructure, which has allowed us to dedicate the Protect Plan to social, educational, health and cultural aspects,” he reported. The following are the 12 projects of the Protect Plan in Benalmadena, with a global investment of 1.559.975,07 euros. Adaptations in Pensioner’s House (Hogar del Jubilado) in Arroyo de la Miel: 113.263,37 euros Improvements in the House of the Cultura (Casa de la Cultura) in Arroyo de la Miel: 191.581,06 euros. New Health Centre in Benalmadena Pueblo: 271.393,51 euros. Improvements in the schoolyard, new play zone and pergola in the school Miguel Hernandez: 144.458,46 euros. Improvements in the entry courtyard and construction of pergola in the nursery “La Luz”: 46.559,31 euros. Improvements and alterations in the offices, changing rooms, and auxiliary spaces of the Sport Centre (Polideportivo) in Arroyo de la Miel: 167.557,17 euros. Interior alterations and optimization for Social Services in the building in Los Porches: 259.207,34 euros Enlargement and the creation of union between the Pre-school and Primary school buildings in the school “El Tomillar” Improvements in the exterior schoolyard of the school Miguel Hernandez: 97.297,79 euros. Construction of shade areas in the schoolyard of the Jacaranda school: 7.025,20 euros. Construction of shade areas in the schoolyard of the Mariana Pineda school: 7.025,20 euros. Enlargement of wall in sport area of Jacaranda school: 20.131,42 euros.
