The Town Hall of Benalmadena improved the collection of taxes during 2008. The Treasury Council prepared Local Tax Calendar for 2009. All the citizens who pay the IBI by direct debit will be able to pay it by instalments. The Mayor encourages the citizenship to pay the taxes on time " and avoid in this way unnecessary surcharges".
The Mayor of Benalmadena Javier Carnero, accompanied by the Councillor of Treasury Inmaculada Vasco and the auditor Jose Luis Fernandez has presented a report on the collection of the principal local taxes during 2008. “It was a good year in tax collection, with almost 80 per cent in the principal taxes” said the Mayor. The auditor detailed the collection of the principal local taxes: Property Tax (IBI) reached 78 per cent; Domestic Rubbish 84 per cent, Economic Activity Tax (IAE) 86 per cent, Road Tax 70 per cent and Industrial Rubbish 60 per cent. “We consider that the collection dates are quite good. If they maintain in the some way it will allow us to execute all the investments and projects foreseen for 2009,”said the Mayor The Mayor reported as well that during this year the principal local taxes would not increase. “ To freeze the taxes to avoid increases depends directly on the fact that all the citizens pay their taxes on time. For this reason, I encourage all the citizens to pay the taxes, in order that the shortage in collections do not force to increase the charges,” added the Mayor. Local Tax Calendar During a press conference, the Mayor presented a Local Tax Calendar for 2009. The Town Hall will send a letter to all the citizens to inform that, if they pay the taxes on time they will be able to benefit several discounts. An innovations for 2009, is the fact that the voluntary payment period of the IBI will be extended in one month. In addition, who pays this tax through direct debit will be able to pay it in two equal parts (July 5 and October 5). As for the rest of the Taxes, the calendar will be the following one: - Road Tax: from Friday the 4th of May to Friday the 31st of July. - Domestic Rubbish: from Wednesday the 1st of July to Wednesday the 30th of September. - Property Tax –IBI: from Wednesday the 1st of July to Friday 30 of October. - Economic Activity Tax (IAE) and Industrial Rubbish: from Thursday the 1st of October to Friday the 30th of November.
