The Major of Benalmadena had a meeting with the Provincial Delegate of Environment to discuss several unsolved matters between both institutions. The agreements for the protection and conservation of the mount Calamorro, search for the best location for the Clean Point and the condition of streams were the principal questions debated in the meeting.
The Major of Benalmadena, Javier Carnero, had a meeting with the Provincial Delegate of Environment of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Remedios Martiel, to discuss several matters of interest for the municipality and collaboration between both institutions. “ The aim of this meeting is to reactivate a series of questions of environmental character that we want to initiate during this term,” said the Major. The meeting centred the agreement between the Town Hall of Benalmadena and the Regional Government of Andalusia for the protection and conservation of the mount Calamorro. In virtue of the agreement, the Provincial Delegate of Environment compromises itself to the cleaning and reforesting of this green area. “There has been a certain negligence from previous Corporation to fulfil the agreement. This Government Team is working together with The Delegation of Environment in order to apply the agreement with all its consequences. The Town Hall and Environment consider different actions of cleaning the mount with the aim to limit the risk of fire and the reforestation. The creation of a Clean Point (area for the selective collection of wastes of high environmental risk like plastic, electrical appliances or oils) was another point debated during the meeting. “There is a great interest of creating a Clean Point during this term,” said Carnero. In this case the biggest obstacle are the competences of the Town Hall. We have problems to find a suitable place for the construction of the Clean Point, due to the shortage of soil that suffers the municipality,” said the Major. Finally, Remedios Martel and Javier Carnero approached the state of the numerous streams that exist in the municipality, and diverse actions of restoration developed by the Town Hall in collaboration with other institutions.
