The Delegation of the Culture announced the traditional contest of Nativity scenes, shop windows and Christmas sweets with a view of coming festivities.
The contest of Nativity scenes tries to promote one of the most ancient Andalusian Christmas traditions. For it, three modalities have been established: individual, associations, shops. Those who are interested in participating should complete corresponding forms in the House of the Culture before 12 of December. They can opt for one of the established prizes. For the individuals three prizes of 150, 100 and 75 euros have been established, whereas for the associations: 300, 200, and 100 euros. Finally, the shops can win prizes of 200, 150 and 100 euros respectively. For the contest of shop windows a unique prize of 300 euros has been established although the jury based on the quality of presented works, can establish two prizes of 125 euros each. The jury will be formed by representatives of different associations of Benalmadena, members of Municipal Corporation and a representative of the ACEB. It is important to know that the jury will value only shop windows with Christmas decoration, but the firm that opt for putting a Nativity scene should inscribe in the contest of Nativity scenes. The period of inscription finishes the 12 of December. The forms can be completed in the House of the Culture or in the Town Hall. The jury will visit them the 15 of December. Regarding the Christmas sweets contest, two modalities have been established, traditional sweets for one side, and deserts and pies for another one having to present an amount between 500 and 1000 grams. Each product should be accompanied of written receipt, where appears the ingredients and the process of elaboration. All the works should be brought to the House of the Culture, 17 of December between 17 and 18 pm where a corresponding form of inscription should be completed. Four prizes of 150 euros to the best traditional sweets, the best dessert or pie, presentation and flavour will be established. It is not possible to present more than one sweet per person. The Delegate of Culture, Elena Benitez wishes “to make a call to the inhabitants of Benalmadena to participate in this contests which conserve traditions with roots in the popular culture.
