The Town Hall of Benalmadena approves an agreement with the Regional Government of Andalusia for the mutual and free transfer of computing resources. This measure will allow the Local Administration the access to free software, better exchange of information and a considerable saving.
The last plenary session of Benalmadena’s Town Hall approved for unanimity the agreement with the Regional Government of Andalusia for the transfer of software. The aim of this agreement is to promote mutual, free transfer of computer applications developed by any of the administrations included in this agreement,” announced the Councillor of New Technologies, Manuel Arroyo.
In this agreement the Town Hall, commit to promote the use of the electronic administration and to facilitate the diffusion of digital certificate between the citizens and personnel. For this reason the Town Hall will have to install in the different municipal dependences points of free access for the citizens, where they will be able to accede to procedures and services across Internet.
For the Town Hall, this agreement has a double advantage:
1. On one hand, the employment of this technology will facilitate in the future the integration with other Andalusian administrations. This will allow rapid, clear connection and exchange of information between different administrations, facilitating a quality management and a better attention to the citizen.
2. On the other hand, the employment of free software will have a significant saving, since it will not be necessary to invest money for the acquisition of licenses and for the annual maintenance of it, as it happens with the commercial programs.
Some of the examples of free software used nowadays by the autonomic administration are: electronic signature, or the platform of procedures.
