The Municipal Library "La Paloma", in Arroyo de la Miel, is working a full capacity in these days of study for the examinations of September. This has joined to the increasingly demanded offer of newspapers and magazines. Even users from other localities benefit from the wide timetable.
On Tuesday 26th of August the library reached the number of 1.083 users, who used its multiple offers. We do not speak about an isolated fact, on Wednesday of the some week there were 901 and on Thursday 28th of August 949. Elena Benítez, Delegate of Culture, says to be satisfied with the result of a policy directed to the promotion of the services that offers the library, it adapts to the needs of the different types of users. The extension of the timetable has been a great success." Students of bordering municipalities like Torremolinos and even of the capital are using the Public Library of Arroyo de la Miel, because it offers wider timetable in the evenings that other libraries. Some libraries do not offer the opportunity of use in the evenings as the one from Torremolinos. We enabled the Bebeteca, a part of the library with seats adapted for children, to receive great quantity of users in these days, before the examinations of September. This great influx of public in these days is a continuation of spectacular comparative information offered not many weeks ago, which was reflecting that in the first semester of 2007 the library had 64.276 users whereas in the same period of 2008 it reached the number of 90.827, an increase of 26.551 what suppose 41,3 % more users. Benitez wants to bring your attention to the fact that this Government opt for the culture and the cultural equipment. The Councillor is satisfied with the achievements of the cultural policy and with the fact that this policy in doing of Benalmadena a city of the culture.
