The mayor of Benalmadena, Javier Carnero, has announced the creation of a new, big, green space in Benalmadena Pueblo. It will be a large public space of 16.000 square meters, unique in its characteristics in this population centre.
The plenary session of the Benalmadena’s Town Hall gave a green light to the motion of the government team that has as a purpose to provide Benalmadena Pueblo with a large free space in the adjacent zone to the fairground of Los Nadales. The unanimity of political groups with representation in Municipal Corporation approved the proposal.
The mayor of Benalmadena Javier Carnero, accompanied by the councillor of Town Planning Joaquín Villazón, explained in a press conference following the plenary session that, the motion consists of a modification of the general approach of the sector EU 70-A and EU 70-B to give place to "a great public park that Benalmádena Pueblo has never had ".
To be able to obtain this aim, the motion shows that the built-up area of the village will be able to grow moderately. The units foreseen in the mentioned plots (one-family in plots of 600 square meters) will be compensated with an increase and integration of these houses in the built-up area.
I want to emphasise that, we want to create a large park in the area where already a great mass of green space exists, and in addition, close to the fairground enclosure. This is the town planning that we want in Benalmádena " the mayor pronounced.
For his part, the councillor of Town Planning, Joaquín Villazón, specified that nowadays it is already possible to see that this zone is a wide green space, " though, with this modification the Town Hall wants to create a public space for the enjoyment of the citizens of the double of the actual size, that will reach 16.000 square meters ".
