On August 21, Benalmadena fire brigade succeeded in extinguishing a fire in Sierra de Castillejos mountains, with the support of the Andalusian forest fire brigade, Infoca.
On August 21 (Tuesday), Benalmadena fire brigade extinguished a fire in Sierra de Castillejos mountains. The fast efficient action of the fire brigade, together with the support of Infoca and a favourable weather, prevented the flames from extending, and the FIRE burnt 4,500 square meters of scrubland and pine trees.
The fire brigade head said he was astonished as to the origin of the FIRE. ‘There is no reasonable explanation about what caused the FIRE, as it directly started on the forest, a landscape without roads for vehicle access’, he explained.
The FIRE started on August 21 at 9:30 in the morning. Two groups of the FIRE brigade, consisting of two self-pumping vehicles and two standard ones. Moreover they had the support of Infoca, which sent two helicopters to smother the flames.
Fortunately, the lack of wind and the high humidity on the plants due to the dew prevented the FIRE from extending across other areas. The fire was completely extinguished at 11:15.
